Since my first series is young adult, I used to look at my younger brothers,
Christian and Stephen, and wonder, “Would they really do that / say that?” or
“Would their friends or classmates?” If the answer was yes or maybe, then I would
go with it. If it was a resounding no, then, of course not. Now, I AM writing
fantasy, so I have to keep that in mind. So, I have to say, “if either of them WERE
in this fantasy scenario, would one or both of them say this or do that?”
Sometimes I don’t care and will write it anyways.
Some other tidbits about me:
If I really need to visualize a scene and cannot get the information from my
surroundings or purely from my imagination, I’ll draw it.
I’m creative to the core. I don’t see the world
like everyone else.
My imagination runs wild, while my empathy
pulls at my heart strings.
I’ve found that a positive mindset and a good
thesarus can create wonderful prose.
I was born in Pensacola, Florida but grew up in Robertsdale, Alabama.
I have a large family that expands to the far reaches of the United
States and everywhere in between.
As a young child, I would create these fanstastic stories for my toys or
the people around me. Generally, I kept them to myself. They were my
secret obsessions, my little laughs and tears.
I didn’t grow up wealthy and never claimed to be.
My four brothers and I were very fortunate to have eachother. My brother John
and I would often play pretend or RPGs. (Don’t be fooled: I’m not a serious
RPG/gamer. We mostly played games that he created.) I suppose he fueled the
creative nature that was always there. He allowed me to talk out my stories. He
created an opposing force that I rarely faced creatively. While John was able to
do that in games, my family regularly played the “Devil’s Advocate” in
conversations to ensure I fully developed my ideas. My husband makes sure to
do this now. He’s brillant.
Everything is more intense when you’re a writer: television, books, movies, video
games, and people watching.
I look for more. I see more. I analyze more.
I People watch to gain a better understanding of interactions, expressions,
movements, and to look for physical features that can be reused. I may like the
nose of this person or the shoulders of that person. The stature and entire physical
appearance of that guy may remind me of a goblin, while the slender blonde girl
may remind me of an elf. I take what I can. It’s easier to write what you know. If
that’s not possible, I make it relatable through my surroundings when possible.
I have big dreams. This is only the beginning.
I look and sound alot younger than I am, but I hear that’s a good thing.
I’ve got loads of medical issues, but they won’t stop me from my goal of becoming
a successful writer! (I’ll do a post about my health.)
I recently got married to a wonderful man, who loves me despite my wackiness
and unusual mind. We moved into this perfect starter house and are still not done
making it our own. I am obssessed with kitty cats! We have three: Lynxie, Tucker,
and Rambo (Bitty). I’ll do a blog post (or few) about them and my obsession with
cat related items. =^.^=

professional photography but now just do it more for friends and leisure
